The founders created Necessaire because they wanted to reinvent the personal care category and make products that are better for you and better for the environment.
Body products don’t get the attention of face products, however increasingly people are becoming more conscious of what they put on their bodies and want something that delivers more.
But, for Necessaire, it wasn’t just about leaving out questionable ingredients. The brand also wanted to include actives. You’ll find ingredients that have been shown to target skin concerns, such as dryness, roughness, pigmentation and skin ageing.
We love that these products only include necessary ingredients, rather than a formulator’s lab full of everything, and actives in high concentrations.
And we’re even happier to see that these products come in fragrance and fragrance-free varieties. If you like to indulge the senses, you’ll enjoy the essential oil-scented options, such as Bergamot, Eucalyptus and Sandalwood. And, if you’re one of the 4% of people who have sensitivities to fragrance, then you’ll be pleased to know you can choose fragrance free.
All products are cruelty free and are vegan friendly.
The Necessaire ‘No’ list
Necessaire avoids ingredients it believes can be toxic or unsafe for the skin. These include:

- synthetic fragrance
- coal tar
- chemical screens
Sustainability
Necessaire believes in using less but better.
Necessaire packaging is 100% recyclable. It uses 85% post-consumer waste materials for its product bottles and tubes and 100% for its boxes, which also use recycled ink. All its vendors are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, ensuring that no virgin forest materials are used.
Necessaire is also working on using repurposed plastics and other materials in the manufacture of its product bottles and tubes.
The brand is climate neutral certified and offsets its footprint.

Necessaire products

The body wash, body exfoliator, body serum and body lotion are all hero products. But don’t overlook the nutritious and satiny body oil that will leave your skin feeling amazing.
Necessaire Body Exfoliator
Ok, we’re going to have to admit it. This is a favourite. It’s like a dry brush without the dry brush. It uses Volcanic Pumice and Bamboo Charcoal as physical exfoliants and Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid as chemical exfoliators. It also contains Marula Oil, a plant oil that’s soothing, softening and moisturising.
The Necessaire Body Exfoliator starts as a scrub but turns into a milky cream when you add water. It allows you to remove dead skin cells while showering without it irritating or drying out your skin.
It’s a great way to keep your dry skin at bay and leave it feeling soft and smooth. It also helps your treatment products, such as the Necessaire Body Serum and Necessaire Body Lotion better absorb.
Necessaire Body Serum
At last, a serum to nurture the body. Why should your face have all the fun!
The Necessaire Body Serum has a gel cream texture that absorbs easily and deeply so that it can do its good work. It contains star ingredients Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides. You’ll also find PHA Gluconolactone, which gently exfoliates and improves skin hydration.
It has a weakly acidic pH level of 3.75-4.75, which supports the acid mantle of the skin. Skin that is slightly acidic is better able to defend itself against environmental stressors and prevent the growth of bad bacteria. The use of soaps and body washes can make skin more alkaline.
Applying the Necessaire Body Serum immediately after your shower helps you to recalibrate your skin’s pH.
Necessaire Body Lotion
The Necessaire Body Lotion took 10 iterations to get right. It needed to be a rich lotion that would strengthen and tone the skin, but still absorb fast. There’s no mineral oil, silicones or cheap chemical ingredients that you’ll find in many other body care products. The body lotion is a pleasure to use and feels lovely on the skin. Think of it as luxury in a bottle.
