Description

Biafine Emulsion Multipurpose Healing Cream, like Biafine Act, is a French classic that’s loved around the world.

This healing cream is known for its light texture and soothing ingredients.

It hydrates, softens and protects the skin, allowing it to heal and regenerate.

French households have relied on it for almost 50 years. And now you can get it in Australia.

Use it as you would Avene Cicalfate or La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+.

Biafine Emulsion and sister product Biafine Act are French pharmacy healing creams that every household needs.

Ensure you buy the genuine product and not a counterfeit.

Why Biafine Emulsion?

Biafine is a very hydrating emulsion that’s light on the skin.

The texture is elegant and silky rather than thick and heavy, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular.

It’s been developed to hydrate and protect the skin, helping to keep irritating contaminants and bacteria out.

Biafine also softens and creates a moist environment that promotes healing and reduces scarring.

The clinical benefits of Biafine Emulsion in wound healing were studied in the US and it was granted FDA approval in 2006.

The formulation was found to recruit macrophages to the wound site during all three phases of healing.

More recently, it has been made popular by beauty influencers and A-listers, including Charlotte Palermino, Gwenyth Paltrow, Elle Macpherson and Lara Stone.

And, like many iconic French formulations, it takes a less-is-more approach to deliver great results.

Biafine Emulsion ingredients

Biafine contains Paraffin, Squalane and Avocado Oil as it key ingredients.

Paraffin is used for its occlusive properties. It forms a physical barrier to protect the skin and prevent water loss. It can help with dryness, itching and barrier impairment. Paraffin-based products are often recommended by dermatologists for use on minor wounds and for skin slugging.

Squalane is very hydrating, soothing and repairing, being especially helpful for the skin barrier. Due to its anti-inflammatory benefits, it’s a great ingredient for anyone with acne or eczema. Squalane is a lipid that’s naturally found in the skin so is highly compatible.

Avocado Oil is a multifaceted ingredient that moisturises, soothes redness and inflammation, accelerates wound healing and promotes skin elasticity. It has both emollient and occlusive properties, thereby making skin feel soft, smooth and supple.

Benefits

Biafine can be applied to:

  • post-treated skin
  • minor wounds and superficial burns, including sunburn
  • abrasions
  • radiation dermatitis
  • dermal ulcers
  • diaper rash
  • blemishes (after they have dried out)

Best for

Suits most skin types.

Biafine Act is a better option for those with sensitive skin or wish to avoid Triethanolamine, while CicaBiafine Multi-Repair Balm provides a fragrance-free alternative.

Good to know

Biafine is best used to soothe areas of skin affected by sunburn, first-degree burns and non-infected wounds.

This cream has a light powdery, floral fragrance.

It can be used as a mask or sleeping mask occasionally, however it should not be used as a moisturiser.

We guarantee our product is authentic. Don’t risk buying fake product.

Brand ethos

Biafine and Biafine Act are brands now owned by healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson.

This global corporate focuses on pharmaceuticals and medical technologies. It operates a decentralised model, allowing its many subsidiaries to operate with a degree of independence while adhering to the company’s overall vision and credo. This structure aims to foster agility, innovation and responsiveness to diverse markets.

Biafine, Aloplastine and Effidia are all brands that were originally owned by Laboratoire Medix in France but were acquired by the US-headquartered Johnson & Johnson in 2004. These signature brands are recognised for treating wounds and skin conditions.

Biafine was first developed by a French pharmacist for use on burns suffered by his daughter-in-law. The remarkable results led to 42 pharmacists and doctors working on the original formulation and securing approvals for its use commercially.

Despite the change in corporate ownership, Biafine and Biafine Act continue to be made in France to the highest quality and safety standards.

It’s estimated that 65% of French households have at least one tube in their home.

Biafine Emulsion review

A brilliant product for burns of any description. I’ve had some sun spots burnt off the back of my hands and applied Biafine to aid the skin’s healing process. As a result, I don’t have any scars or white marks on the back of my hands from the burns. Also it can be used as a face mask to hydrate and soften skin… Apply to a clean face leave for 20 minutes or more and rinse off.
