Marrubium Vulgare Extract is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from pollution-induced damage and supports repair. In addition, it strengthens the skin barrier, reduces inflammation and improves rough texture.

Carnosine is a protective peptide, found naturally in the skin, that inhibits sugars in the body binding to collagen in the skin to form a type of skin ageing called glycation. Glycation involves damage to collagen ad elastin in the skin. It presents as severely aged with yellowing, sagging and deep cross-hatched wrinkles. Carnosine also protects the skin from infrared rays and the breakdown of collagen.

Ergothioneine is an antioxidant amino acid that prevents oxidative damage. It also may enable DNA repair in skin cells exposed to UV rays. A study comparing Ergothionene to Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10) found it to be superior in protecting against reactive oxygen species after exposure to UVA rays.

Medik8 Physical Sunscreen review

My skin is very picky and doesn’t always react well with skin care products but I found this to be very gentle on my skin. It does contain Zinc Oxide so it is very white in colour, but by simply rubbing it into the skin more it quickly disappears. The texture is sticky to touch before you apply, but once on and rubbed into the skin it’s completely dry touch and feels almost like you’re wearing nothing on your skin. I’ve been using the same sunscreen on my face for years but after trying this I think I might be ready to switch.
