Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinoid Night Oil is a new generation ‘Retinol’ that delivers exceptional results without the usual irritation.

This night oil utilises unique booster technology to ensure the Retinoid and other actives in the  formulation can penetrate and go to work while you’re sleeping. Your skin will be replenished, restored and regenerated and, in time, will look more youthful.

Why Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinoid Night Oil?

The Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinoid Night Oil Night contains an advanced and stabilised Retinoid, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, that’s instantly recognised by the skin’s Retinoic Acid receptors. Unlike Retinol, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate doesn’t need to go through unpredictable conversion steps in the skin.

Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate retains its full potency. The skin is able to identify and use it immediately, which means better results.

The Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate has been expertly formulated in a base oil blend of oils that are cold-pressed / organic and naturally contain vitamins A, E, C and B, as well as essential Omegas 3 and 6.

Your skin will be infused with the retinoid and the other naturally occurring skin nutrients and anti-ageing factors found in the oils.

What are Retinoids?

Retinoids are a form of Vitamin A used in skin care formulations that are powerful anti-agers. They accelerate skin renewal, improve texture and tone, stimulate collagen and thereby smooth those fine lines and wrinkles. They’ve also been found effective in improving certain skin conditions such as acne.

Retinoids come in prescription formulations and over-the-counter products. They include Tretinoin, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, Retinal, Retinol and Retinyl Palmitate. You can read all about retinoids in our two-part article on our blog.

What’s Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate?

Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is a new generation of retinoid that has been proven to be faster working and less irritating.

How’s Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate different?

Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate has been shown to be more potent and less irritating than Retinol. It’s already broken down into a form the skin can readily recognise and use.

The oil base used allows this oil serum to absorb more deeply and act fast. This means you can achieve impressive results with a lower concentration, and that means less potential irritation.

This Retinol alternative is ideal for those who have dry or sensitive skin, or who like a retinoid in an oil formulation. Now you don’t have to give up on using a Retinol, even if your skin is pernickety.

The Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate has been combined with oils that are light and nourishing. These oils are cold-pressed and/or organic. They include Grape Seed, Jojoba, Avocado, Rosehip, Pomegranate, Black Currant, Black Cumin, Tamanu and Cranberry. These oils contain vitamins and Omega 3 and 6 that are beneficial to skin function and heath.

  • Hydrates, replenishes and softens the skin.

  • Reduces the look of stretched and enlarged pores.

Now you can fight the signs of skin ageing with Pestle & Superstar Retinoid Night Oil on your side.

Best for

Suits all skin types, however anyone with rosacea should test first.

Perfect Pairs

The best anti-ageing skin care routines include an antioxidant serum and sunscreen in the morning and a retinoid at night. Gentle exfoliation 1-2 times also helps the turnover of dead skin cells and keeps the skin looking bright, clear and soft.

Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinoid Night Oil is the perfect match for the Pestle & Mortar Hydrate and the Pestle & Mortar Exfoliate Glycolic Acid.

Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinoid Night Oil Review

This is the best Retinol I’ve used outside of a prescription. Besides the basics: fragrance-free, airtight and opaque packaging, the Vitamin A comes in two forms: Palmitate and Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, the same form used in Luna [Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil]. The Retinyl Palmitate resurfaces, it doesn’t penetrate as much, it’s good for pore appearance, but the Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is the killer ingredient.

I rarely review anything, but this … This is the ONLY serum I’ve ever tried that pretty much instantly changed my skin. Pores are reduced, skin glowing and just beautiful skin. I LOVE this product and will definitely repurchase! I’ve also bought the hyaluronic acid serum, and my skin feels plump and hydrated. I am now a big fan of Pestle and Mortar products and I think they’ll be a staple in my skincare routine. Can’t wait to try out some of the other products!
