The key ingredients in Medik8 Press & Clear are:

Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) penetrates pores and helps to break down accumulated sebum and debris. BHA, also known as Salicylic Acid, has been used at the maximum concentration of 2%. Medik8 has used crystal encapsulation technology, a slow-release system, to optimise delivery and minimise irritation.

BHA has been clinically proven to be effective in treating problematic skin. It’s considered a gold-standard ingredient given it works on the surface of the skin and inside pores. Having a chemical structure similar to Aspirin, BHA has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant benefits too. This makes it helpful for those whose skin is prone to outbreaks.

Alpha-Arbutin is an effective antioxidant and skin brightener, helping to fade the look of skin discolourations, such as acne marks, sun spots and uneven tone. Most commonly extracted from the bearberry plant, Alpha-Arbutin is considered a safer and gentler alternative to Hydroquinone. It improves visible dark spots, melasma and PIH by reducing the formation of melanin in the skin.

Alpha-Arbutin works as a depigmenting agent in two ways. Alpha-Arbutin binds to an enzyme that’s naturally produced in the skin, tyrosinase, and deactivates it, thereby preventing the formation of melanin. Alpha-Arbutin is also an antioxidant and it scavenges reactive oxygen species that can activate the production of melanin.

Kakadu Plum, which is native to Australia, contains 100 times the Vitamin C of oranges. It contains potent antioxidant molecules, which help to defend the skin against free radical attacks. Additionally it helps prevent hyperpigmentation and stimulates the production of Type I collagen, the most important collagen in the skin.

Aloe Vera is a natural ingredient that soothes and hydrates the skin, while also promoting healing. Research has found that the mucopolysaccharides, amino acids and zinc in Aloe Vera promote skin barrier function and moisture retention, while reducing redness and irritation. This botanical extract also has antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-viral properties.
