Thermal Spring Water comforts and soothes the skin, and is particularly helpful for anyone whose skin is prone to redness or irritation.

Niacinamide, or Vitamin B3, at a concentration of 3% soothes and calms the skin, while also helping to lighten the look of dark spots and redness.

Vitamin C in the form of Ascorbyl Glucoside at 1.8% converts to pure Vitamin C in the skin and provides three key anti-ageing benefits: protecting against free radicals, stimulating collagen production and fading the look of discolourations.

Vitamin E is another potent antioxidant that works synergistically with Vitamin C to provide exceptional protection against the damage caused by free radicals, helping to maintain the skin’s youthful appearance.

Avène ethos

Avène’s history dates back to 1736 when the horse of the Marquis of Rocozels, suffering dermatitis, was found to regularly roll in thermal spring water on the Marquis’ land in Avène in the south of France to soothe its itchy skin. The Marquis, seeing the remarkable results, decided to build thermal spring baths at the site and welcomed patients suffering from skin conditions and burns.

To this day, Avène uses Avene Thermal Spring Water rather than ordinary water for its soothing benefits, which have been demonstrated in more than 150 studies.

The thermal spring baths grew in popularity and became the Avène Hydrotherapy Center. This was bought in 1975  by Pierre Fabre Laboratories, the second largest private pharmaceutical company in France. But it wasn’t until 1990 that The first Avène products were produced at the site, bringing its benefits to the rest of the world.

In 2010, Avène developed a way to make its first product without preservatives, making it suitable for those with allergic skin. Avène was ahead of its time, understanding the importance of the need to restore balance to the skin and preserve its microflora.
