Why choose Vichy?

Vichy is a French skin care brand that dates back to 1931 when dermatologist Prosper Haller first started creating skin care solutions for sensitive skin using thermal water from the Vichy region of France.

Vichy is recognised globally, above all, for its Vichy Mineral 89 Booster Serum, which contains Hyaluronic Acid and Volcanic Mineral Water sourced from the hot springs found in the volcanic areas around the town of Vichy in France. This Volcanic Mineral Water, which is rich in minerals and electrolytes, is known for its soothing and fortifying properties and for helping to reinforce the skin’s natural barrier.

In addition to the Mineral 89 range focusing on hydrating and strengthening the skin, Vichy has LiftActiv for ageing skin, Normaderm for acne-prone skin and Neovadial for menopause skin. Its brand Dermablend offers camouflaging concealers and foundation that provide high coverage and lasting wear. It even has a hair care brand called Dercos.

Vichy brand story

While Vichy’s roots are in France, it has grown in popularity in Europe and other parts of the world, including Australia.

The brand has maintained its commitment to dermatology and continues to create products that have the highest efficacy and safety.

Vichy is today owned by L’Oreal, a global leader in the beauty and personal care industry.

L’Oréal owns a wide range of beauty brands, including CeraVe, Garnier, Kiehl’s, Lancôme, Maybelline and Aesop. L’Oreal acquired Vichy in the year 200 to expand its dermatological skin care segment given it also owns La Roche Posay.

Vichy ethics

Vichy, as part of L’Oréal, has set ambitious goals to reduce its environmental footprint, including water consumption, carbon emissions and waste production. This aligns with Vichy’s efforts to use more sustainable packaging and ingredients.

L’Oréal has been criticised for animal testing in the past, but it has led efforts to reduce and eventually eliminate all animal testing. However, the company does still test its products in countries where it is required by law.

L’Oréal has a human rights policy that outlines its commitment to respecting human rights throughout its supply chain. This includes fair labour practices, ethical sourcing and combating human trafficking.
